Yesterday was good

I had a really good day yesterday. I think it's because I was running all over the place and didn't have time to think about junk food or boredom eating. I spent the majority of yesterday organizing and cleaning and dusting, something that's in the cards for today as well. I made a huge dent in the mess that is my craft room and three bags of junk later, it's a little less cluttered. After Paul got home we went on the hunt for some new jeans for him since he tore the right cuff completely off his last wearable pair. We found two pretty much brand new pair at a local thrift store and I found three new tops for myself. I love thrift store shopping SO MUCH. It only set us back $9.50!

We also did a little grocery shopping and I picked up a few things I've never tried. I got a Lean Cuisine roasted chicken and garlic pizza and it was amazing. I also tried a Smart Ones broccoli and cheddar potatoes yesterday...that one was mediocre. I've never bought a "diet" type microwave meal before in my life and figured they all would taste like crap lol. The pizza was great though. Jenn, I know you like the paninis, does anyone else have a favorite diet type tv dinner? It was super handy to toss the pizza in for dinner last night because by the end of the day I was exhausted. They're not something I'll eat regularly because I like to cook and usually have the time, but I'd like to stock up on a few for times like this when I'm on the run constantly and don't have the time or inclination to make a real meal.

I also picked up some whole wheat flour, "light" margarine and Altern (Walmart's brand of Splenda) so I can get to work on finding a good muffin/bread recipe. I'm also using the Altern in my coffee, which brings one of my giant sized cups of coffee from a nasty 340 calories to a modest 64. I bought a ridiculously expensive tin of stevia tablets over the weekend to try but they were terrible.

stevia

They're supposed to taste similar to sugar, only sweeter but all I know is that it tasted like ass. Cloyingly sweet aftertaste ass. I put two tablets in my coffee day before yesterday and when I tried it, it was strange. At first, it tasted like bitter coffee that I hadn't added any sweetener to. Then AFTER that taste came this really overpowering sweetness akin to Sweet & Low. I like my coffee and sugar and cream to meld into a creamy sweet caffeinated dream, not break up the flavor to the point of making me want to throw the entire cup out the window. So...despite my "raving" review...anyone like this stuff? Anyone want a 100 pack tin with three taken out of it? (Two for the coffee...one living under my stove)

But yeah...yesterday was nice. I under ate, but it probably made up for the chinese I ate the day before.

My favorite LC pizza is the spinach and mushroom deep dish. I also like the new flatbreads, but I find when I buy the "dinners", I'm always hungry. It's never enough to fill me up. I'm a carb girl, I guess.

Thanks Jenn, I love mushrooms so I'm probably going to try the spinach and mushroom one next. I was hungry afterwards too, but I had a bottle of water with dinner and kind of just dealt with it. Next time I'll toss some veggies in the microwave or on the stove to go with it so it balances it out a little more.

Thanks Crystal! If you can't find it I'm sure that I can find something online to try. Either that or I'll just make it up as I go and consider it an experiment lol! You have a wonderful day too hon!

I didn't know you could put something in it to reduce the calories! Oh that's fab! :-) You cracked me up talking about the sugar... that sounds so nasty!

Oh yea, I forgot why I came by, you did win a USB! You were #9. Someone commented twice and wasn't in the US. Email me your mailing address when you get a chance. petulawrites@yahoo.com. Congrats!

I found the recipe's from crystal.

This is the fruit one:

2 1/2 cups oat bran
1/4 cup nuts
1/4 cup dried fruit
(I used cherries, w/o nuts, and they were yummy!)
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/4 cup honey, molasses, or brown sugar
1 1/4 cup skim milk
2 egg whites
2 tbsp. veg. oil

mix all together and bake 15-17 minutes at 425.

banana ones:
2 1/2 cups oat bran
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped nuts
1 1/4 cup skim milk
2 very ripe bananas
2 egg whites
2 tbsp. oil

mix together, bake at 425 for 17 minutes.

I didn't use nuts in the banana ones either, and they were yummy too.

LOL! ASS! It tasted like ASS! AH HA! You are a hoot!

Isn't this funny all the crap we have to go through to find what fits us!?!

As far as diety thingies, Sam and I just found Crystal Light On the go packs! I love, love, love the lemonade. Sam's a diabetic and hasn't had a great glass of raspberry tea in forever until we found an on the go pack for that too! This is a great way to consume tons of water! He even asked that I send a box or two to him in China, lol! These are cool because if you leave home and forget to carry one then most convenient stores sell them by the water door in the store!

I have to agree with the spinach/shroom pizza -I am a fan. But if I am doing frozen pizza, its usually for two or more people. I can't do the LC or WW food but more power to those who can!

if I come up with any other ideas, I'll let you know!

Thanks very much for the recipes Jenn! I'll have to pick up some of the splenda brown sugar and see if it'll work.

It really is a long and winding path to find what fits each individual. I'm sure there are plenty of people that think the stevia is fantastic...just not me! I've only ever had success with any type of decent weight loss by doing Atkins, so a lot of this diet-y stuff is new to me.

The diet microwave dinners is something I haven't tried yet. We get groceries next week so maybe I will pick up a couple.
Christine you are off to a great start with getting healthy and losing weight. Keep it up you CAN do this!

I must try those recipes as well!
